Animal transport cage
An animal transport cage is a small, portable box, crate, or cage used to transport small animals such as cats, lap dogs, miniature pigs, ferrets, chickens, and guinea pigs.
When buying an animal transport cage, you can consider things like:
- IATA approval: Whether the cage is IATA-approved
- Sturdy: Whether the cage is sturdy, with a steel door and a hard plastic shell
- Secure: Whether the cage has good airflow and secure door locking
- On the sides, heavy welded metal mesh “windows” that let air in and out are located.
- Sizing: Whether the cage is the proper size for your pet
Other things to consider include:
- Whether the upper and lower part of the cage are locked with screws or not with clips
- Whether the wheels are not recommended
- Whether the mesh or ventilation holes are small enough to ensure no part of your pet’s nose or paws can protrude
- Whether your pet can stand up, sit down, lie down, and spin around comfortably inside the kennel
